Episode 023: Yogurt, Weight & Exercise…Part 2

In today’s episode we chatted all about our updated feelings on consistent exercise and our current personal fitness goals and progress. We also received some AWESOME advice from top exercise and fitness expert, Dr. Adrian Chavez, on what you can do for exercise even if you are pressed on time, money and energy. He even outlines a one-week guide for listeners to follow. Listen (above) to get the full details!

For our food segment, we enjoyed a flavored yogurt taste-test! Yogurt has a great blend of carbohydrates, fat, and protein which makes it a perfect recovery snack after exercise. The brands and flavors we tried included Noosa raspberry, Chobani pineapple, Silk non-dairy strawberry, Siggi’s drinkable vanilla, and Oikos Triple Zero peach. Let us know your favorite yogurt in the comments below!

Episode 006: Edible Face Mask and Lip Scrub, Sperm Eyebrows & Beauty

In today’s episode we chat all things beauty! We enjoy a homemade food-based face mask and lip scrub- both are EDIBLE! As Erinn states, you can have a face mask at night, and breakfast come morning. Rachel suggests dipping some summer fruits into it- maybe even swipe a chunk of watermelon right across your face while wearing the mask. We won’t judge. Next time, we may add more sugar to the lip scrub to make it more gritty like our favorite lip scrub from Lush (Rachel likes Mint Julep, Erinn likes Popcorn!).

We talk our beauty philosophies, our biggest beauty mistakes (re: sperm-shaped eyebrows), what’s inside our makeup bags, and our tips for looking and feeling your most beautiful both inside and out! We got the idea from our favorite Beauty Uniform series on Cup of Jo, and from one of our favorite podcasts, The Girl Next Door Podcast, which currently has two different beauty-related episodes out (listen to those episodes here and here!).

For the fries
  1. 2 medium sweet potatoes
  2. 2 Tbsp olive oil
  3. 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  4. ½ tsp paprika
  5. ½ tsp cinnamon
  6. 1/8 tsp chili powder
  7. ¼ tsp kosher salt or fine-grain sea salt
For the dip
  1. 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  2. 2 tsp lemon juice
  3. 1-2 garlic cloves, smashed and finely minced (about 2 heaping Tbsp)
  4. 2 Tbsp fresh minced dill
  5. ½ tsp kosher salt
  6. ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Scrub the potatoes, keeping the skin on. Trim ends and slice a small sliver off the bottom of each potato so they will rest flat. Cut lengthwise into discs (about four to five ¼-inch slices) and then cut those into fries (about three to four ¼-inch fries).
  3. Soak fries in cold water for 45 minutes (this helps fries cook crispier, but can be skipped if short on time).
  4. If soaked, rinse and dry off. Then in a large bowl, toss the potatoes with olive oil until lightly coated. Add brown sugar, paprika, cinnamon, chili powder, and salt. Toss again until evenly coated.
  5. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Lay fries out, spacing them evenly.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes, then flip the fries and continuing cooking, about 15 minutes. For final 1-2 minutes, flip oven to broil.
  7. While the fries are finishing, make your dill dip. Mix together the yogurt and other dip ingredients. Taste and add more pepper if desired.
  8. Eat fries warm with chilled dip
